Alberto Burri
Mitchell-Innes & Nash, New York
2008 | 300 × 245mm | 64pp
Arte Povera with high production values. Catalogues for Anthony Caro and Leon Kossoff at Annely Juda Fine Art led to work for Mitchell-Innes & Nash in New York, the US dealers for both artists. In 2008, before the recent re-evalution of Italian post-war art, Burri was an almost forgotten name, but the cover of the catalogue was one of the most striking I produced. The recherché medium of the work illustrated was noted as 'arcovinilico on cellotex' and when printed on the jacket and blind embossed with a gloss black foil title the result was suitably tactile and mesmerising.
